MISHAWAKA - Joe Robert “J.R.” Howard, 80, born August 2, 1936, in Mount Vernon, IL, passed away at home in Mishawaka on September 13, 2016.
He married Margie Geraldine “Gerry” Howard on June 3, 1955, in Mount Vernon, IL.
JR was a carpenter who worked in final finish and repair for a variety of mobile home construction companies before retiring from Hi Tech in Bristol, IN.
He was a member of Coalbush United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, IN, and enjoyed interacting with the preschool children.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gerry Howard; a daughter, Diane Howard of Medway, OH; two sons, Jay Howard (Brenda) of Indianapolis, I and John Howard (Lynn), Goshen, IN; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 16, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior in Coalbush United Methodist Church. Rev. Amber Karkosky-Litten will officiate. Burial will follow at Mishawaka Fairview Cemetery.
