ALLEN, Clifford L., 75, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016 in his home. He was born April 8, 1941 in Gower, MO the son of Loren C. and Dorothy (Campbell) Allen. He worked as a technician for AT&T and Ohio Bell for 19 years and later owned and operated C.L. Allen, Inc. Cliff was a veteran having served his country in the Missouri National Guard and U.S. Army (Germany 1959-1966). He was a member of First Christian Church and did missionary work in Honduras and Haiti. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Connie (Thompson); three children, John Allen, Atlanta, GA, Cindy & Dr. David Sutton, Jacksonville, FL and Matt & Alisa Ross, Perrysburg, OH, an estranged son, Todd Allen of Missouri; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; siblings, Alice Barker, Donna Slaybaugh, Dixie (George) Derr, Marcia (Dennis) Hansen, Richard (Sharron) Allen and Ronald (Traci) Allen, numerous nieces and nephews, dear friends Bill and Sharon Hanlin and many other dear friends and family. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy and brother in law, Martin Barker. The family would like to express their appreciation to his rheumatologist, Dr. Linda Gray, OSU, and Pulmonologist, Dr. James Allen, OSU. He is at peace and has been welcomed into the arms of Jesus and heard the words "well done good and faithful servant". Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in First Christian Church with Pastor Joel Augustus officiating. Family will receive friends four hours prior, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial with V.A. Honors will be held Friday in the Dayton V.A. Cemetery.
