Minnie Davis Edwards, age 93, of Birchleaf, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at her home. Born on November 10, 1921, in Murphy, Virginia, she was the only daughter of the late John and Artha Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson, two sons, Robert Hall and John Hall, and her brothers, Hatchel Davis and Brady Davis.

Survivors include, her children, Jetty O'Quinn of Pulaski, Virginia, Janet Brewer and her husband, Nick, of Appalachia, Virginia, and Carter Edwards and his wife, Linda, of Birchleaf, Virginia; her daughters-in-law, Ada Hall of Willshire, Ohio, and Geraldine Hall of Nashville, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Allen Hall of Decatur, Indiana, Cheryl Hall Wolfe and her husband, Corey, of College Station, Texas, Jenny O'Quinn David and her husband, Josh, of Newport News, Virginia, Michele Brewer Brooks and her husband, Randy, of Weber City, Virginia, Nicole Brewer Lantman and her husband, Brian, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Brian O’Quinn and his wife, Carrie, of Fairfax, Virginia; her great grandchildren, Spencer Wolfe, Reilly David, Ethan Wolfe, Bailey Lantman, Marley Brooks, Nelson Reece David, Mallory Brooks, Nicholas Lantman, and Julie O'Quinn; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Minnie was smart, strong, beautiful, loving, hard-working, and witty. At a time when most women did not work outside the home, she took a job with the U.S. Postal Service, ultimately becoming the Postmaster of the Birchleaf Post Office and retiring in 1989 after a 37-year career. She was a member of Dickenson First Presbyterian Church in Sandlick since September 24, 1933. Minnie was devoted to her family, and she and Nelson made it a priority to spend time with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. At their home, there was always good conversation, laughter, warm hugs, and a delicious meal on the table. Minnie enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, reading, hunting, fishing, and playing Setback. She also loved to watch NBA basketball and was a Chicago Bulls fan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Haysi Funeral Home with Dr. Nick Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Linden Edwards Cemetery on Skillet Branch Road. Pallbearers will be Allen Hall, Brian O'Quinn, Josh David, Randy Brooks, Brian Lantman, Mike Yates, and Ferrell Deel. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Edwards, George Edwards, Corey Wolfe, Harold Davis, Richard Edwards, Mike Hill, Danny Mondrage, and Ken Branham.
