U.S. VeteranKenneth Forstner, 87, of Gibbon died Friday, September 2, 2016 at the South View Living Center in Gibbon.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Thursday, September 8, at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon with burial in the church cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM Wednesday and 7:30 – 10:30 AM Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in Gibbon. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Donna Forstner of Gibbon; a daughter, Barb (Dan) Stueber of New Ulm; sons, Thomas (Debbie) Forstner of Gibbon, Mark Forstner of St. Cloud, Robert (Peg) Forstner of Crosby; grandchildren, Jesse Forstner, Joni Stadtherr, Jenna Peterson, Savannah Messner, Jason Stueber and John Forstner; great grandchildren, Jack, Dustin, Ruby, Charlie and Wallace; sisters, Lois (Luverne) Fischer of New Ulm, Connie (Charles) Reichensperger of St. Cloud; brothers, Myron Forstner of New Ulm, Rollie (Arlys) Forstner of New Ulm; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Forstner of New Ulm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Gene Forstner; and by a sister-in-law, Shirley Forstner.

Kenneth Frank Forstner was born October 1, 1928 in New Ulm to Frank and Veronica (Boettger) Forstner; He was a 1945 graduate of New Ulm High School. Kenny served in the U.S. Air Force stationed at Rhein-Main Air Base in Frankfurt, Germany . He was united in marriage to Donna Wech on June 9, 1956 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Bismarck Township, Sibley County until 1994. He then was employed at Richcraft in Winthrop for nine years when he retired. Kenny played baseball for New Ulm High School New Ulm Legion, Sigel, Searles and the Gibbon Reds where he later was instrumental in getting the baseball team started again in Gibbon. He also enjoyed bowling, hunting and golf in his younger years.

He was a member of St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church and a past member of the Bismarck Township Board.
