Frank's first wife was Ruth Bernice Johnson (1917-2003). Together they had a son Frank Montie Ball (1936-1953) who was electrocuted flying a model airplane into a 10,000 volt power line. Frank's second wife was Alma Evelyn Mueller a commercial artist from Missouri. She attended Long Beach Junior College and made her home in Long Beach for three years before they wed. She is a granddaughter of Col. W. J. Warner of Long Beach and a niece of Circuit Judge Fred E. Mueller of Clayton, Missouri. They were married June 29, 1946 in Chesterfield, St Louis, Missouri where she lived. Together they had two sons, Keith Randall Ball and David Warner Ball.
Frank went to Polytechnic High, Long Beach, California and graduated 1931. He was in the Polytech Club. Frank was a machinist. He spent three years in the Pacific with the Seabees. He passed away at the age of 86 in Long Beach, California.
