A native of Wilmington, NC, Rev. Bowen was the son of the late Rufus Lester Bowen and the late Dorine Frisbee Bowen. A member of Jesup Church of God, he was an evangelist and pastor for most of his life, having served all over the state of Georgia, including pastoring the Offerman Church of God, Graham Church of God, McRae Church of God and Milan Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, El Donna Scholts Bowen, McRae; brother, Richard (Etwendil) Bowen, Odum; special friends, Charlotte (Bernie) Horne, Christian and Hunter, Helena, Margie (Jason) Joiner, and O’ryan, McRae; nephews, Mark (Sandy) Bowen, Lee Bowen and Jerry (Sabrina) Bowen; two great-nephews, two great-great-nephews, and several cousins and friends.
