Leroy Burnett, 90, of Benton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016. He was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Hot Springs to the late Freddie and Cressie (Lindsey) Burnett. Leroy served in the U.S. Army during the European Campaign in World War II. During his service, he received two bronze stars and a silver star. Afterward, Leroy worked many years in the auto body and painting industries. He enjoyed dancing at the Bryant Senior Wellness and Activity Center and watching old western movies.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Freddie Lee Burnett, Bobby Jo Burnett and Roy Lee Radford; a brother, RC Burnett; a sister, Vernie Willis; and the mother of his children, Betty Burnett.

He is survived by his wife, of Benton; seven children, sixteen grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; a brother, of Hot Springs; a sister, of Malvern; and many other family members and friends.

Reception visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. O.D. Crabtree, will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Social Hill Cemetery in Benton.
