Diplomatic Activist. Ed Horman was a Bronx NY businessman and father of Charles Horman, a left-wing journalist. Charles went to Chile in 1973 to report on the military coup organized by the right-wing general Augusto Pinochet, and disappeared. Ed Horman traveled to Chile and was told several different stories about his son. Eventually Charles's body was found, having been executed during a crackdown on left-wing elements. This story was dramatized in the 1982 file "Missing", in which Ed Horman was portrayed by actor Jack Lemmon in an Oscar-nominated performance.
