Ruth Ann Dunlap Davenport

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Ruth Ann Dunlap Davenport, age 83, entered into her heavenly rest on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.

Born on July 25, 1933, she was a native of Elizabethton and the daughter of the late Robert and Robbie Edwards Dunlap. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Herbert; and her son, Michael Wayne; as well as three sisters, Doris Faye Dunlap, Linda Garland and Margaret Snodgrass; and two brothers, Robert "Bob" Dunlap and Edward Dunlap.

Mrs. Davenport was a homemaker and a graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a member of First Christian Church, where she was active in the ladies' circle meetings.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Kathy Isakson and husband, Charlie, of Elizabethton; two grandsons, Kenny Laughters and wife Jackie, of N. Andover, MA and Scott Laughters, of Chattanooga, TN; three great grandchildren, Annabelle, Cohen and Drew Laughters, of N. Andover, MA; one brother, Steve Dunlap and wife Linda; her brother-in-law, Eddie Garland; and a very special sister-in-law, Emma Jean Dunlap. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She also leaves behind her extraordinary friend and roommate at Ivy Hall, Mrs. Hazel Weaver. The family would like to express their gratitude to the amazing and compassionate staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the care provided to Ruth.

A service to honor the life of Mrs. Ruth Ann Dunlap Davenport will be conducted at 8:00 PM on Monday, September 19, 2016, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Michael Klaus and Kenny Laughters officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, prior to the service or at the home of her daughter, Kathy, Elizabethton, at any time.

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Steve Dunlap, Gary White, Everett Smith, Eddie Garland, Rocky Davenport and Mike Sansom. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, to go in procession to the cemetery.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to the East TN Christian Home Van Fund, 517 Allen Avenue, Elizabethton, TN 37643
