He was born on July 1, 1933, to Leo and Helen (Marsh) Loveless in Decatur, Illinois and graduated from high school in Warrensburg, Illinois. In 1951, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for four years.
Throughout his life, Bob worked as a United States Postal Carrier, an ambulance driver, and a carpenter but his passion and life's work was as a firefighter, which he served as in Decatur, Illinois for 25 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion.
Bob adored animals and leaves Sadie, a little Jack Russell, Sugar, Buddy and several St. Bernards of the past. He enjoyed woodworking and made many custom toys, fire trucks and trains for art shows. As well as, wooden crosses which he gave to his friends as gifts.
On June 22, 1988, he married Linda (Barrier) Hogue in Greenfield, Illinois. In 2001, the couple moved to Grove, to be closer to family. Bob was a dear husband and father who was kind and loving and will be greatly missed. He was a member of the Elk River Baptist Church and it is a comfort to know that he is home with our Lord now.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, William Loveless.
His family that remain to carry on his legacy: wife of 28 years, Linda Loveless of Grove; four children: daughter Debra Loveless of Houston, Texas, son Benjamin Hogue and wife, Heidi of Dallas, Texas, Beth Schull of Decatur, Illinois and son Andrew Hogue of Fredonia, Arizona; sister Nancy Gray of Chicago, Illinois; 12 grandchildren: Liv, Liam, Audrey, Blythe, Brandon, Jamison, Cameron, Christian, Caitlin, Colton, Casey and Michael; 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 9, at Nichols Funeral Chapel, Grove. Funeral services are at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, at Elk River Baptist Church, with Pastor Ed Glasgow officiating, with interment following at Olympus Cemetery North.
Donations may be made to Elk River Baptist Church in his memory or the Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake.
