Marivin Scheckard Allison, 87, of Portage, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Mary Bartz Hospice Center, Valparaiso. He was born, August 8, 1912, in Morrisville, Pennsyvania, the son of Paris and Dora (Hartsough)
Allison. A Portage resident for 36 years, he was married on April 26, 1937 in Fallsington, Pennsylvania, to Marie Bernadette Hoffman. A 1930 graduate of Morrisville High School, he was a Fire Chief for U.S. Steel, Gary Works for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a life member of the Morrisville Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of Portage; five sons: Edward (Betty) Allison of New York, Thomas (Judy) Allison of Valparaiso, James (Mary) Allison of Morrisville, Pennsylvania, Marvin (Phyllis) Allison of Valparaiso and Robert (Cathy) Allison of Chesterton; three daughters, Ann Marie (John) VanWagner of Porter, Carol (Fred) Trathen of Porter and Cynthia (Mark) Bland of New Albany, Indiana; 29 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Paris (Jean) Allison of Florida and Thelma Ridge of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bernice.
A graveside committal service will be held Thursday, May 11, 2000 at 11 a.m. at McCool Cemetery in Portage, IN. Engel Funeral Home, 2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage, Indiana 46368 in charge of arrangements. For information please call 219-762-8595.
