On July 13, 1946 Opal married John Peter "Pete" Wheeler and moved into town, Greensburg, Kansas where she lived for over 40 years before moving to Springfield, Missouri in 1989. In 1996 she moved to Irving, Texas.
On June 20, 1948 Opal gave birth to twins, John Ellis Wheeler and Johnna Grace Wheeler.
Opal was a member of Assembly of God Church for more than 25 years.
Opal was preceeded in death by her husband Pete in 1983, four sisters; Ethel Selby, Etta Pinkston, Leona Hindman, and Verna Davis, two brothers; Sam and Jesse Logan.
Survivors include her children; John and wife Harlen of Greensburg, Kansas and Johnna of Irving, Texas. Three grandsons; Erick and wife Brenda of Rose Hill, Kansas, Jerrod of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Jayland of Overland Park, Kansas, one great-grand daughter, Brooke and a host of friends and family.
