She is preceded by her father Benjamin Sanford, Jr., her mother Nieda King Sanford, and her brother Clyde F Sanford. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert B. Marcus, Jr., their children, Shana Marcus, Ryan Marcus, Andrew Marcus, and Robyn Marcus Screws, as well as her two grandchildren, Jacob Hatfield and Emelynn Screws. She is also survived by all of her extended family, 'adoptive' children and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org in memory of Betty Ann Sanford Marcus.
Funeral Services will be held 11am on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016 at Forest Meadows Memorial Park Central, Chapel in the Meadows, 4100 NW 39th Ave., Gainesville, Fl. with Dr. John Fairless officiating. A Visitation will take place prior to the services from 9:30am to 11am.

While attending GHS, she was VP and later the President of Beacon Club. She was active as a member of FHA (Soph year), an American Field Representative all three years of high school, a Student Council member (Soph & Junior years), Senator in her senior year, a member of Mu Alpha Theta in 10th grade, Pep Club in 11th grade, and was on the Hurricane Herald staff as a senior.
