She was born Oct. 28, 1941, in San Diego, Calif., the daughter of Herrol and Reba (Wormington) Eden. Shirley was an independent, passionate, strong, hard-working, loving and dedicated woman who knew no stranger. She worked her way up from a secretary to executive vice president of sales for Totino's Pizza and Pillsbury. In 1985, she worked alongside her husband as the vice president of Springfield Freightliner until they sold the business and moved to sunny California in 1990. Since she is a business woman at heart, she went on to become her own boss and entrepreneur, working with a variety of health and wellness companies such as Usana and Isagenix.
She enjoyed traveling all over the country with her husband, spending time with her children and grandchildren, close friends and campaigning for important issues dear to her heart. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her!
Shirley married Gary Benton on July 31, 1980 and felt truly blessed for those 36 years!
Gary survives as well as her daughter, Julie Martin and husband, Brian, and grandsons, Zachary and Lucas Martin, all of Republic, Mo.; two sisters, Alice Shinn and husband, Glen, of Bryan, Texas, and Mary Brown and husband, Jerry, of Stark City, Mo.; three stepdaughters; seven step grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild and five nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Shawn Weber, of Ft. Lauderdale; and her parents.
