Carlos R. Reed, 89, of Monroe, passed away at 5:25 a.m. Sunday at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Rupp Funeral Home, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Jeffrey Heimsoth, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, with military honors by VFW Post 1138, Monroe
Carlos was born April 18, 1927 in Obion County, Tennessee. He was the son of Riley R. and Mary Elizabeth (McTurner) Reed. He married Eullalee Price March 12, 1948 at Trinity Lutheran Church; she preceded him in death in 2007.
He served in the US Navy Sea Bees during World War II.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Monroe and Frenchtown Senior Citizens and a lifetime member of VFW Post 1138, Monroe.
He is survived by a son, David (Lorene) Reed of Monroe; seven grandchildren, Paul, Joel, Kyle, John, Trevor, Kara and Shane and four great grandchildren, Rielyn, Braden, Isabella and Sofia.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Randy L. Reed and John M. Reed and a brother, Riley R. Reed.
