OBITUARY FOR GERALD NORWOOD -- From The Perry Daily Chief, Monday, November 2, 1953 -- Gerald E. Norwood, 60, who served as manager of the Perry Gas Co. for 17 years, died Friday at his home in Savanna, Illinois. He had been ill only a few days prior to his passing.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Workman Funeral Home and burial will be at Violet Hill Cemetery.
At the time of his death, Mr. Norwood was employed in the maintenance department of the Northwestern Illinois Gas and Electric Co.
Mr. Norwood was born Dec. 1, 1892 at Nelson, Nebraska, the son of Charles and Laura Norwood. His marriage to the former Gertie Blaisdell took place on Nov. 13, 1913, at Perry.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Donna Baers of North Hollywood, California, and Miss Norma Norwood of East Moline, Illinois; two sons, Keith Norwood of Savanna, Illinois, and M-Sgt. Kenneth H. Norwood of Menlo Park, California, and two sisters, Mrs. Claribell Draper of Nebraska and Mrs. Bertha Brown of Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, who died in infancy, and three brothers and one sister.
