Our sister-in-law, Kristi, left this earth for Heaven last night, September 8, 2016, after a long battle with breast cancer, leaving her two young children, Katrina and Nathaniel, and husband, Brian, behind.

Kristi fought courageously against triple-negative breast cancer – the type that does not really respond to any treatment. We never heard her complain even when going through chemo and after losing her hair. She rocked that wig and handled life with much grace! We were all hopeful that she would make it and everything would be better, but the disease took turns for the worse as the cells with the gene mutations – the cancer that corrupted her cells’ DNA code that God had originally designed so beautifully – spread to her lymph system, then major organs, and then brain.

In one of her last messages to us, Kristi wrote on August 22:

“I’m doing ok, I’m sure Brian has told you that I’m now on hospice. No more nasty treatments! They were not working anyway, just made me feel horrible!!...All hospice really does is make sure that I’m comfortable pain wise. The pain is getting worse, but I’d rather have it than go through any more chemotherapy. So, I have good days & not so good days when I am just so tired I want to sleep.

Brian has been great!!...He takes great care of me and kids!! I wish I could help him more, but he won’t let me even go upstairs! He doesn’t think it’s safe for me. He also won’t let me drive anymore, because I’m on the pain meds.

Kids still have a couple more weeks until school starts. Can you believe that Katrina will be in Jr. High?

We sure do miss everyone! Saw that Rachel & Michael are having a boy! How exciting for them!! Rachel will be such a good mommy!

Tell everyone hello for us and that we miss them!”

The whole family is devastated by this loss and we cannot begin to fathom the impact her passing from this life has on her young kids. The disease has taken a toll on family finances as well and we want to make a fund where everyone could contribute directly in her memory for her children’s future.

We know that many are far away, like us, and are searching for ways to communicate our love for Kristi and her family and to help out as best we can, so we thought a memorial fund for her children’s sakes might be a start and help all of us express love in a way that could directly benefit her family.

We would ask you to consider donating to help cover any remaining medical and funeral expenses and to help Kristi’s family begin living without her and hopefully establish college funds for her surviving children.

We long for a day when we can see only God’s original designs unmarred and incorruptible – for Kristi, that day has now begun in Heaven where pain and death are no more! We are grieving, but now she truly knows indescribable joy.

Thank you for sharing in Kristi’s memorial.

May God bless you and all your loved ones!
