Marine Intelligence published in newspapers list the Schr John & Samuel, Bowden, with different cargos and when they were cleared, sailed, arrived, or memoranda. So far I have found Schr John & Samuel, Bowden with dates between 1864-1867. Since the two occupations listed were Seaman and Teamster, it is very likely he was the captain of this vessel. His exact death date and location, but it would have been between the birth of his son Alfred in 1863 and when Harriet married John Morris Baldwin on 2 September 1868 in Pajaro, Monterey, California, United States. Their daughter Hattie Baldwin was born in the same place in September 1869 and their son John Morris Baldwin, Jr., was born there on 18 August 1872. He died 10 May 1893 in Bitterwater, San Benito, California, United States. Voter records show the family was living in Bitterwater in the early 1890s, but Harriet's second husband died before the 1900 Census when she was living with her son Albert Bowden in

Harriet was also living next door to her oldest son, John F. [Foster Hansteen] Bowden, his wife and three children. Her daughter Fanny Bowden Woods was living in Castroville, Monterey, California, with her husband Frank Woods and 8 of their 9 children.
Harriet died nine years later in this same location, but her burial location is unknown. A few likely places are:
Odd Fellows Cemetery, Hollister, San Benito, California, because it is the same cemetery where many of her family were buried including her daughter Fanny and her sister Abbie and several of their family members.
Bitterwater Cemetery, Bitterwater, San Benito, California, because her son, John Morris Baldwin, Jr., and possibly her second husband John Morris Baldwin, Sr.
Since San Benito County was a long established home for her and her family and the place where she died, she was undoubtedly buried there.
