John B. Herbolsheimer, prominent farmer, passed away of cerebral apoplexy while visiting with members of his family at the farm home Monday evening. Mr. Herbolsheimer had been a resident of Bureau county since childhood. His farm residence is located in Selby township, about three miles south of Malden. He was active in public affairs and enjoyed the confidence and respect of all who knew him.

The youngest son, H. F. Herbolsheimer, who farms near his father's place, called on his father about 6:30 Monday evening to talk over a little business matter. At the time he arrived there, supper was being prepared and the father was in good spirits and apparently good health. He talked and joked with his son and other members of the household. The son was invited to remain until after supper. After the supper hour, Mr. Herbolsheimer helped the ladies clear up the supper dishes from the table and carried some to the kitchen. While in the kitchen Mr. Herbolsheimer slumped to the floor, and suffered a fatal stroke.

Mr. Herbolsheimer was born in Peru, Sept. 16, 1860, the son of Sebastian and Maria. When six years of age the family moved to the vicinity of the Shabbona school. All of Mr. Herbolsheimer's life has been spent on the farm. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Edgar J., Peru, Dr. A. J. of Minneapolis, Minn., and H. F. of Selby township.
