Rosemary Rose
MATTOON — Rosemary Rose, 99, of Mattoon, passed away at 5:17 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2009, at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home.
Mass of Christian Burial honoring her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 320 North 21st Street in Mattoon, with Father Dennis Kollross celebrating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Mattoon. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the Church. The Schilling Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Rosemary was born December 10, 1909, in Coles County, a daughter of Henry and Margaret Elizabeth (Murphy) Conlin. She married Leonard A. Rose in 1941 and he passed away in 1966.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Leonard Allen "Lenny" Rose in 1987; six brothers and five sisters. She leaves behind seven nieces and nephews; numerous great and great-great-nieces and nephews; and her loving and devoted long-time caregiver, Marcella Purkiser of Sigel.
Mrs. Rose was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Springfield. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Mattoon for many years.
Memorial gifts in her honor are suggested to Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.
