Marty was born on January 5, 1954 to the late Jerry F. and Fae (Miller) Cornell. She was number five of six sisters and was preceded in death by four of them; Betty Stoner, Carol Ross, Patricia Scofield, and Billie Jo Schoff. The youngest sister, Wendy Cornell (Brian) Roseman of LaPorte survives. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Buster Brown whom she loved dearly.
Together with her late husband, she was manager of Summer Song of South Bend, (formerly known as Renwald's) for 38+years and loved it.
In her early years she enjoyed playing her banjo, hubby on guitar, and both singing with friends. She also enjoyed karaoke, camping, and poker games at home for fun. Country music was her favorite, especially 80s and 90s.
She lived life to the fullest and traveled to many states. Her home was always open to all, EVERYONE was family. Blood didn't matter. She was the most giving person who was always helping someone. She was a mom, sister, nana, aunt, friend and confidant. She loved ALL of her family very much. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Monday, September 12, from 5-8pm at Palmer Funeral Home 2528 Mishawaka Ave. South Bend. Services will be Tuesday at 11 am at the family's church, St. Peters United Church of Christ, 915 Ironwood Dr. in South Bend, with visitation one hour before. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, on Portage. Memorial Contributions to the St. Joe County Humane Society. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
