George served as a Technician Fifth Grade, Company E, 593rd Engineer Shore Regiment, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in New Haven County, Connecticut prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on June 24, 1942 in Rutland, Vermont. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a filling station attendant and also as Single, without dependents.

George was "Killed In Action" in the invasion of Wakde Island in Indonesia during the war.

He was awarded the "Bronze Star" and the Purple Heart.

The awarding of the Bronze Star noted "For heroic achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy."
