DRIGGS - Ray Williams, 82, of Driggs, Idaho, died February 7, 2002 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was born September 11, 1919 in Sheffield, Alabama to Gilbert Cope and Lora Safley.
During World War II she served with the U.S. Army in the Army Nurse Corps. She had lived in Germany during the Occupation.
On June 19, 1951 she married Joseph Malone Williams in Nashville, Tennessee. They moved to Driggs from Nashville in 1989. She had been a registered nurse all of her adult life. She was a past president of the Teton Valley Hospital Auxiliary and she loved to volunteer at the Teton Valley Hospital. She also helped deliver meals on Wheels in Teton Valley. Her husband died December 27, 1992.
She was a member of the Vestree at St. Francis of the Tetons Episcopal Church. She had been a board member at the Valley of the Tetons Library in Victor and was a member of the American Legion. She loved to sew, garden, read, collect things, and to cook. Ray especially loved her grandchildren.
Survivors include her three sons, Joe Williams of Memphis, Tennessee, Dwight (Sharon) Williams of Austin, Texas, and Jim (Sue) Williams of Driggs; three daughters, Helen Cibula of Lisbon, Ohio, Sharon (Martin) Scott of Danville, Virginia, and Jane (John) Malatak of Stafford, Virginia; a sister, Virginia Hutcheson of Crossville, Tennessee; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be Saturday at the St. Francis of the Tetons Episcopal Church in Alta, Wyoming. Burial will be in the Driggs Cemetery.
