KRIEGER, MARGUERITE deVERE DRAVO, 82, a Louisville native who loved traveling, nature and her family, died Saturday, December 2, 2006 near her home in Advance, NC. The cause was a heart attack. Marguerite was born on April 4, 1924 the daughter of Gladys Louise Von Allmen of Prospect, and Vernon Booth Dravo of Louisville. She was raised and educated by her aunt Marguerite Fowler and Clell Fowler. She graduated from Atherton High School in 1941 and earned a BA in Economics from Duke University in 1945. With her husband, Kenneth Harris Krieger, also of Louisville, she moved to New Jersey in 1948. The couple lived in Chatham, NJ, for 20 years. They retired to Savannah, GA, and later moved to Advance, NC. With a Masters degree in environmental education, she was a lifelong advocate of wildlife, gardens and the wilderness. Avid travelers, Marguerite and Ken vacationed in Africa and South America, skied in Europe and celebrated their 50th anniversary on a cruise from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Marguerite is survived by husband, Kenneth of Advance, NC; daughter, Lisa Krieger; and granddaughter, Laura Witteman-Krieger of Palo Alto, CA; aunt, Albertha Bryan of Louisville; cousins, Doris Simcoe Claiborne of Louisville, J. David Simcoe of Elizatbethtown, Richard Simcoe of Charlotte, NC, Fred Bryan of Baton Rouge, LA, and Ron Bryan of Sun City, CA. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 2233 Woodbourne, Louisville. Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment will be in Cave Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Stoess Funeral Home, Crestwood. Gifts in Marguerite's memory can be made to: The Nature Conservancy, Attn: Donor Services, 4245 N.
