John Whiteaker was the son of Aaron Whiteaker (1640-1713) and Catherine Gough (1640-1713). He married Mary McComas (1665-1713) and had seven confirmed children by that marriage. Other claim he had as many as 10 children. In a strange twist of fate and tragedy of the Whiteaker line, both John's parents, John and his wife all died of a Measles Epidemic the same year and same month; November 1713. John Whiteaker died only 3 days after his father died and 5 days after his mother passed away. His wife and mother both died on the same day.

The Family of Whitaker is written about in an artcle by Beaumont Whitaker in the Maryland Historical Magazine vol 79 p. 165-182 and the Baltimore County Families 1659-1759 p. 684.

He was in Baltimore Co by March 1694 when he surveying 74 acres of Whitaker's Purchase. In Oct. 1696 he patented Whitaker's Chance and in Dec. 1697 he bought 150 acres of Whitaker's Ridge. He married two times Catherine who is listed on the first 6 children's church birth record and Mary who is named in the will.
