The Jenkins County native moved to Portal, Georgia as a child and later graduated from Portal High School in 1966. Peggy worked as a receptionist for Dr. Sam Tillman for many years and for Dr. Dale Madson, until retiring due to her declining health in 2007.
Peggy loved her family and especially her grandchildren and loved her dog "Jasper" that preceded her in death.
She was known for her beautiful smile and "Big" hair. She was of the Baptist faith.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, George Ellis McBride and Eliza Adell Johnson McBride.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Elaine Bland; a daughter and her companion, Jennifer Bland and Allen Grimes and two grandchildren, Brandyn and Dylan Bland all of Brooklet; a brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Mary McBride of Twin City; two nieces and a nephew.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00am in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home with Elder Steve Taylor officiating, assisted by Elder Bill Durrence.
Interment will be in the Elam Baptist Church Cemetery in Jenkins County.
Pallbearers will be Jason McBride, Jeff McBride, Tommy McBride, John Wayne Bussell, Ricky Johnson and Mitchell Johnson.
