Funeral services for Irisema Hernandez, 33, of Portales, will be at 10:00 AM, Fri., Sept. 9, 2016 at the Foundations of Faith Church, 1300 N. Main St., in Portales with Pastor Raul Ornelas officiating. Burial will follow in the Portales Cemetery with Henry Lucero, Jr, Mario Montoya, Jcob Aranda, Christopher Aranda, Isaac Aranda and Jimmy Aranda serving as pallbearers.

Irisema Hernandez, known to most people as Shema, was born Nov. 16, 1982 in Clovis to Elsa and Octavio Hernandez, and died Sept. 4, 2016 in Lubbock, TX.

Shema was a lifelong resident of Portales. She had worked as a server at La Hacienda Restaurant before they closed, and later at Chili's Restaurant in Clovis. She enjoyed music, baking and cooking. She also made soaps and body scrubs, as well as candles and other crafts.

She is survived by her mother, Elsa Hernandez of Portales; a son, Santino Espinoza and two daughters, Ginevie Martinez and Ezzy Martinez all of Portales; a brother, Daniel Aranda of Portales and a sister, Sofia Hernandez of Portales.
