Michael’s life began on February 4, 1951 in Spencer, IA the son of Joseph W. and Irma M. (Jensen) Merrick. He received his primary education in Maryville, MO and graduated from North West Missouri State. Michael was united in marriage to the former Judy Frampton on November 14, 1970 in Maryville, MO. Michael served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era. He worked in sales to support his family and was a respected well known auto dealer for several dealerships in the area. Michael was a good salesman but truly excelled at making friends and doing right by his clients. He was a golfer, enjoyed detailing his cars and was an avid Kansas State fan, following his son’s baseball career at K-State, never missing a practice or a game. His greatest joy was his family which includes his wife Judy of El Dorado, son Clint (Jennifer) Merrick of Topeka, grandchildren Brent Herrman of El Dorado, Mason Merrick of Leon, Caden, McKenna, Peyton and Halle Merrick, all of Topeka and sister Patty (John) VanCleave of Maryville, MO. Michael passed away at his home on September 7, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Kami Merrick. His family will gather with friends on Monday at 11 a.m. to celebrate Michael’s life at the Carlson Chapel. He will be laid to rest in McGill Cemetery, Potwin with full military honors.
