Dr. Daniel Colm Armstrong, 85, resident of Quincy, passed away peacefully December 15, 2015, at home with his family. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen B. Armstrong; son of Francis and Sarah Armstrong of County Antrim, Northern Ireland; brother of Kevin, Frank, Vincent, Mina, Kathleen and Ita; loving father of Daniel, Patrick, Una, Colm, Mary and Catharina; grandfather to Aidan, Gavin and Madeleine Armstrong, Sorcha Sullivan, Sarah and Colm Armstrong, Isabel Egan, Ella, Hugo, Cormac and Rory O'Halloran. Dr. Armstrong attended the Royal College of Surgeons In Ireland, graduating in 1955. He practiced obstetrics and gynecology in South Boston and Braintree for over 40 years. He was an attending physician at St. Margaret 's and South Shore Hospital and was known for his kindness and compassionate care of his patients. Dr. Armstrong was a proud member of the Committee for Justice in Northern Ireland. He loved swimming in South Boston, walking Castle Island and travelling to Ireland to visit family and friends. Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, South Weymouth. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 19, at Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock Street, North Quincy. Burial will follow at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
