Charles David Roberts was born near Big Cedar, Oklahoma. He was the fourth child born to Willis Wilson Roberts III and Mary Ella (Wilcoxson) Roberts.

He moved to California in 1937, and married Ethel Mae Henderson in 1941. After her death in 1982, he married Eleanor Scheppegrell in 1984, and she died in 2002.

David was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943, and served with the First Ranger Battalion in Italy. His unit was captured by German forces in January of 1944, and he was held as a prisoner of war until April 1945.

He retired from Lockheed Missiles & Space Co. in Sunnyvale in 1979, after 17 years of service.

He moved to Clovis in 1989.

He was a member of the Sun Garden Church of Christ, Clovis Senior Citizens Center, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Fresno Chapter No. 1 of the Ex-Prisoners of War.

David was also preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, and two sisters.

He was much loved by many nieces and nephews, and four stepchildren.

Visitation will be held at Lisle Funeral Home on Sunday, December 10, 2006, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lisle Calaveras Chapel on Monday, December 11, 2006, at 12:00 noon.

Private burial will be at Los Gatos Memorial Park in San Jose, California.
