Carl was the youngest of thirteen children of Charles Luther Gurley and Hattie Massey.
Carl and Martitia Holt Gurley were married for 67 years. Mr. Gurley was a life-long member of the Princeton United Methodist Church.
The funeral was at Princeton United Methodist church. Burial followed in Princeton Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Martitia; three daughters, Peggy Thompson and husband Merlin of Raleigh, Imogene Capps and husband Elmer of Princeton and Connie Oliver and husband Berry of Pine Level and a son, Bob Gurley and wife Pat; thirteen grandchildren; and thirty-two great-grandchildren.
