Mr. John Benjamin "Johnny" Sadler, age 85, a former resident of New Castle, DE, died Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the Brian Center in Wilson, NC.
Mr. Sadler was born in New Bern, N.C. on February 9, 1931. He was the son of the late William Alfred Sadler, Sr. and Ella Mae Walker Sadler. Mr. Sadler served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a retired truck mechanic. In his spare time, he loved drag racing and fishing.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sadler was preceded in death by a brother, William Alfred Sadler, Jr.
Mr. Sadler is survived by his daughters, Terry Austin of New Castle, DE., Patricia McClain of Bear, DE., Wendy Vaneiken of Elkton, MD Tammy Sadler of Clayton, DE., Connie Pendergast of Wilmington, DE; two brothers, Frank W. Sadler of Aurora, Hal W. Sadler of Edward; a sister, Gail Gurganus of New Bern; caregiver, Frances Hathaway-Roper of Wilson; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Friday, September 9th from 8:30 - 9:30 AM at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE 19709. Service and interment with military honors will follow at 10:00 AM at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE 19701.
