Velva Ruth Brinkerhoff Farr, 88, of Orem, Utah, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at Robbins Friendship Center.

Ruth was born June 11, 1910 in Thatcher, Arizona, to Hyrum James Brinkerhoff and Olive Clare Kimball. She was the third child in a family of four. She attended schools in Arizona and California, graduating from Huntington Park High School. She also graduated from Gila Jr. College in Arizona. She worked as a telephone operator for many years. She married Archie Moore McCalla on December 28, 1940. They later divorced. She married Erron Williams Farr on September 28, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1976.She was active in the LDS Church, holding many positions in Relief Society including President of the Bonneville Ward. She was also Sunday School Secretary, and a Provo Temple Worker. She and Erron served a mission in Australia in 1969.

She had many interests including camping, hunting, reading and needlework. She did beautiful cross stitch and cut-work embroidery. She loved her family dearly.

She is survived by four sons: Erron Laretus (Lucille) Farr, of Clearfield, Utah; Melvin Kimball (LaDawn) Farr, of South Jordan, Utah; Andrew Eugene (Patricia) Farr, of Salt Lake City, Utah; Lloyd Heber (Helen) Farr, of Grantsville, Utah; three daughters: Genevieve (Gail) Lee, of Clinton, Utah; Barbara (Frank) Romney, of Kaysville, Utah; Georgianne (Dean) Swensen, of Orem, Utah; 39 grandchildren; 113 great-grandchildren; 13 great great-grandchildren; one brother: Spencer LeRoi Brinkerhoff, of Safford, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, her parents, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 23, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Bonneville Stake Center, 85 South 900 East, Provo. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 85 East 300 South, Provo on Monday evening 6-8 p.m. or Tuesday at the ward Relief Society room 9:45-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
