Diane Lynn Call Bailey, 53, of Springfield, Mo., died at home on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016.

She was born to Raymond and Nina Call on Dec. 15, 1962, in Wilkesboro.

After graduating with honors from West Wilkes High School in 1981, Mrs. Bailey graduated from the McConnell Travel Agent School in Minneapolis, Minn., and then returned home to attend Wilkes Community College and pursue a career in radio broadcasting. She worked as a radio announcer for several stations in North Carolina. She also worked for Centel.

Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband, Tom, of the home; a sister, Janice Nichols and a nephew and niece;

A brother, Ronnie, and her parents preceded her in death.

She grew up in the Pentecostal Holiness Church and also attended Mount Zion Baptist Church in Wilkesboro.

As she had requested, no memorial service will be held. Her wish was to be cremated, with her ashes scattered on Mount Jefferson in Ashe County, where she was married. The family will have a private gathering this weekend.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society and Petsmart charities.
