Born in Cappagh, Aughrim, County Galway, Ireland, the son of Edward Treacy (a herd) and Mary Hayden. In 1901, he was living with his parents at Ballinderry, Kilconnell, Co. Galway. Husband of Annie (nee Callinan) Treacy, later of Rossmore, Woodford, Co. Galway; they had a daughter, Annie, who was born in Dagshai, Himachal Pradesh, India, on 1 December 1909, where her father was stationed. Company Quartermaster Serjeant Connacht Rangers, 5th Battalion; service No 7455. Died of wounds difficult action attempting to take the town of Le Chateau. Initial attack on October 10 failed and second push attempted October 18, during which he was badly wounded, dying 2 days later.
