Marks started his writing career as a gag writer for Universal Pictures in the 1920's. He worked with William Wyler in Wyler's early days as a director and later worked as a production assistant, writer and reader. Markes also worked with Kurt Neumann and King Bros. Marks died two days after being admitted to the Motion Picture Country Hospital.
