Alan Roy “Buddy” Abshier, 66, went to join his family in heaven on September 6, 2016.

“Buddy” was born on April 1, 1950. Although he was born with Down syndrome, Buddy never let that stop him from enjoying every day. After his mother, Alyne Abshier, passed away he was raised by his very loving and caring aunt, Ruth Seale. They enjoyed life to the fullest in Raywood and Devers. Buddy very rarely met a stranger and one of the highlights of his life was his employment at the Liberty HEB. He also enjoyed being a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Devers.

After the death of his brother, Kendrick Abshier and his aunt, Ruth Seale, he was cared for by his legal guardians, Bette and Bubba Haidusek with the help of his dear friends, Perry and Ann McPherson and Ruth Estes.

He spent his last year at Fairy’s Landing in Hull, Texas. Thankfully, the staff loved and cared for Buddy so well and he loved them all. Special thanks is given to Chris Pelky and Gidget who were not only his caregivers but also his best friends. Buddy had numerous friends that were blessed to be part of his life and that will always cherish his memory.
