Mrs. Speaks, widow of B.L. Speaks, died July 24, 2002 at J.E. Harter Nursing Center after an extended illness. Born October 6, 1907, in Hampton County, she was a daughter of the late Elder James W. Anderson and Minnie Rivers Anderson. She was married to John Ray Nix until his death. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Fairfax and had been employed for many years at Gatlin's Red and White in Fairfax.
Surviving are daughter, Joyce N. Crocker of Allendale; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
