Last Monday, June 12, at about 2 a.m. death came stalking into this community and robbed it of one of its highly esteemed citizens and business men, when Oscar Edward Dunn succumbed to angina pectoris, after an illness of six weeks. The sickness commenced with pleurisy on the right side. This was overcome when the heart affection developed which brought about the passing. Mr. Dunn was born in Hancock county, Indiana, on February 19, 1872, and was 61 years, 3 months and 23 days of age. He was a son of Andrew and Elizabeth Dunn. On August 10, 1897, he was married to Emma Jane Knebel of Medaryville, and to them were born two sons, Royal F. and Cecil M. Dunn, both of whom are at home and were business partners with him in the retail meat trade. Mr. Dunn and his family moved here from Medaryville about thirty years ago and he followed the trade of a plastering mason for some years. About 20 years ago he started a meat market, and has since continued in that line. When the new Peoples State Bank of Francesville was organized in July, 1930, following the closing of the State Bank, Mr. Dunn was made a director of the new institution and the board chose him as president of the bank, in which capacity he had served since then. Besides the widow and two sons, he is survived by three brothers--David and Ernest Dunn of Indianapolis, and Newton Dunn of Oaklandon, Ind., and three sisters--Mrs. George French and Mrs. May Watts of Indianapolis, and Mrs. Russell Peters of Lawrence, Ind. One sister, Mrs. Nora Long, preceded him in death. The funeral was held Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the M. E. church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. S. Godwin, with interment in Francesville cemetery.
