Ray D. Black was born July 27, 1924 in Red Rock, Oklahoma the son of Lipha and Ida (Blue) Black. He completed this life on Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 at his home in Oklahoma City at the age of 92.

Ray served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp. After his Honorable Discharge he continued to serve in the Air National Guard retiring after thirty years of service. He worked for many years as an insurance agent retiring from State Farm Insurance Company.

He married Cathryn June Cumiford who preceded him in death on May 9th, 2010. They made their home in Oklahoma City for many years where they were members of the Christian Church.

In addition to his parents and his wife Katie, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Katie Raye Jordan and his granddaughter, Courtney A. Dawson.

He is survived by his son, Jerry M. Black; his daughter Cindy Gray and her husband Gene; his sister, Margaret Ann Hart of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren, Tiffany Hawkins, Nicole Mary Cathryn Black, Shaun Gray and Ben Gray; his great Grandchildren, Callie Hawkins, Chance Hawkins, Lindsey Dawson, Kay Lee Dawson, Kaleb Gray and Wren Gray.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 12th in the chapel of the Vondel Smith Mortuary North. Interment with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
