Douglas M. Barton, 78, of Vestal, NY passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at UHS Wilson Hospital with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his parents Marlin & Vesta Barton of Endwell. Survived by his wife Gonia and four sons; Christopher & wife Ellana Barton of Vestal, Mark & wife Christine Barton of Colchester, VT, Andrew Barton of Endwell, Thomas & wife Malin Barton of Clayton, NC. Three granddaughters; Katherine, Vanessa, and Hannah. Two step grandchildren; Edward and Inessa Raytenberg. Sister; Barbara & husband Gary Ransom of Apex, NC and their children. Brother and sister in laws; Pat Hotalen, Ken & Janice Cowan, Rick & Mary Cowan, Debbie Cowan.
Douglas was a Veteran of the US Army for 2 years, retired from IBM Endicott in 1992 with 35 years of service, Senior member of the Guide Step Sportsman's Club in Richford, NY since 1964, Volunteer of Meals On Wheels for over 10 years.
Funeral Services for Douglas will be held on Thursday at 1 PM at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, with Deacon Dale Crotsley of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal, officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home on Thursday for 11 AM until service time at 1 PM.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Douglas's memory may be made to Meals On Wheels of Broome County, 85 Walnut Street, Binghamton, NY 13905, The Broome County Veterans Memorial Association, P.O. Box 694, Johnson City, NY 13790 or a charity of ones choice.
