Mathais Rice and Mary Boyden are John's parents from Mass. John was a New England Planter who emigrated from Massachusetts to the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. He arrived on the ship "Charming Molly" with Beriah and Ebenezer Rice Jr. and he settled on the west side of the Lequille River. "John was the ancestor of the greater part of the Annapolis Valley Rice family.

John Rice died 2 May 1811 and is believed to be burie in an unmarked grave in either the Harris/Oakes Cemetery on the Dugway Road or in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Bear River, this is where I have placed him. If proof can be shown then I will move according to the info.LHG

John was twice married and had children by both spouces,seven by the first wife,Sarah Smith whom he married on 7 May 1761 in Sudbury, Middlesex,MA.:

John married Mary Potter on 25 Apr 1785 and they are the parents of two sons:
