Mr. Harry Cephas Hoover, 89, of Harrells, NC. died Friday at home.

Mr. Hoover, born in Lincoln County, NC; was the son of the late Dennis Edney Hoover and Katie Mae Jonas Hoover and the widower of Florence Little Rivenbark Hoover. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Fred Hoover, Dora Cockman, Ruth Carr, Martha Blake, Wayne Hoover, Henry Hoover and Joan Cavenaugh.

He was the fraternal twin brother of Henry Thomas Hoover and one of eight children. The Hoover family moved to Harrells in 1937 and began farming in Sampson County.

Harry was an alumni of Franklin High School and left high school early to join the U.S. Army where both he and his twin brother served in Germany as a truck and jeep driver in Troop A of the 81st Constabulary Squadron. He was honorably discharged in March 1947.
He returned home and married the love of his life, Florence Little Rivenbark on August 12, 1951. He worked at J.P. Stevens in Wallace and retired from General Electric in Wilmington, all while working the family farm with his father and family.
