William Vess was the second sheriff (Served 1844-1847) of Brazos County and said to be the first man buried in Boonville Cemetery in Brazos County. William was married to Minerva Millican. He also served in the Texas Army in 1842. William earlier lived in Jackson County, Texas, and appears to be the son of Jonathan Vess, though proof is yet to be established.
