Melanie Jean Lewis-Orr, 39, of Ft. Bragg, N.C., departed this life unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016.

She was the loving wife of 22 years to Devin Orr and beloved mother to Donovan and Tristen Orr and Aaron Smith.

Born in Burlington County, N.J. she grew up in Mystic, attended local schools and was a graduate of Ella T. Grasso Technical High School in Groton, class of 1995, where she earned her degree in hairdressing and barbering.

A recent resident of Ft. Bragg, Melanie was a sales associate for the Fort Bragg Harley-Davidson dealership in Fayetteville, N.C. for the past two years. Her greatest passion was riding her motorcycle and she was actively working towards her certification in teaching motorcycle safety. She was an avid collector of Harley-Davidson poker chips and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Melanie will be deeply missed.

In addition to her husband and children, she leaves her parents, Robert and Rhona Lewis of Mystic; brother, William "Bill" Lewis of Mystic; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Linda Orr of Bozrah; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16 at the Mystic Funeral Home located on Route 1. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic.
