James "Pa Jim" Solomon Parker was born in Georgia to John F. Parker and Sarah Jane Ruffin. He moved with his parents to Navarro County, TX in the 1880's. He met and married Mary Ella Stephenson in 1893. He was a blacksmith and he also raised cattle. He played the fiddle and called square dances, which is how he met Mary "Mae" Ella. They had 6 children and lived in the Rice, Corsicana, Chatfield, TX areas. He also was a guard for the chain gang in Sugarland, TX at one time. He had a handlebar mustache and was very tall and lanky. He had a very loving marriage with Mary Ella up until his death in 1956.
Together they raised their granddaughter, from the time she was 2 until she got married at age 17.
They are buried in the family plot in Oakwood Cemetary, Corsicana, TX along with their son and James' parents.
