Joseph William Serio, Jr., 82, of McComb, passed away, Saturday, September 3, 2016 at his residence.
He was born November 8, 1933 in McComb. He was the son of the late Joseph William Serio, Sr. and Angelina Crefasi Serio.
He was retired owner of Jayco Nuts and Bolts and worked for Rainbow Chrysler, Dodge, Ram in McComb. He also worked for the Mississippi State Auditors office for a number of years. He was a very active member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Charles R. Brill Council #8054 where he served numerous terms as Grand Knight. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Christa Illert Serio of McComb; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cyndy and Keane Yeargan of Winston-Salem, NC and Gena Serio Thompson and John of McComb; his brother, William Serio of Hampton, VA; three grandchildren, Heather Yeargan, Chelsea Powe and Stephanie Tullos; two great-grandchildren, Kaylin Barr and Leah McGuire; his sister-in-law, Ruth Moller of Berlin, Germany; nephews Joey Serio of Hampton, VA, Michael Serio of Columbus, MS and Mattheas Ihm of Berlin; niece, Christina Howell of Columbus, MS and great-niece, Kayla Howell of Columbus, MS.
The family also wishes to thank the staff of Hospice Compassus for the love and caring shown during Mr. Serio’s illness.
Visitation is Saturday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from10 AM until Memorial Mass at 11AM with Father Brian Kaskie officiating. Entombment will be in the family mausoleum in Hollywood cemetery under the direction of Sharkey Funeral Home in Summit.
