Gary Wayne Grisham, 73, of Lorena went peacefully to be with the Lord Saturday, September 3, 2016 after a long illness.

Gary was born March 19, 1943 to James Ray Grisham, Sr. and Margaret Louise Burris in Alton, Illinois. His family moved to Waco when he was a small child.

Gary was a proud member of the United States Army and served in Korea. He had many positions while serving but especially loved his time as a Dog Handler.

Gary and Carolyn Jo Taylor of McGregor, Texas were married December 2, 1966. Gary was employed by Central Freight for 18 years before he and Carolyn began Truck Driving together for 21 years. They enjoyed life on the road together and getting to see our beautiful country. Gary was always ready to make everyone laugh and was known by all to pull pranks. His generous and jovial spirit will be missed greatly by so many family and friends who loved him very much.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Ray Grisham, Jr., and his mother and father-in-law Jackie and Jim Yeager.

Gary is survived by his wife of 49 years and son, John David Grisham; his sister and brother-in-law Lee and Doug Depew, nephews Robert, Ross, and Ryan Depew and their families; his brother Terry Layne Grisham and wife Cindy, nieces Kimberly Grisham, Sarah Monthie, and Katie Shafer and their families; sister-in-law Sylvia Williams Grisham, nieces and nephews Jim Grisham, III, Kyle Grisham, Tricia Propes, and Melissa Landrum and their families.

The family would like to thank Shayla, Beverly, Angela and Gail of Interim Hospice for their loving care of Gary throughout his illness and in his final days.

Graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 8th at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 SH 195, Killeen, Texas.
