Joyce LaCoste Nielsen, aged 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2016, at the Wesleyan at Scenic in Georgetown, Texas. Joyce was born March 16, 1924 in Palo Alto, California, the daughter of the late Vincent D. Lacoste and Hope L. Loughlin.

Born and raised in Palo Alto, CA, Joyce attended Palo Alto High School, and later briefly attended San Jose State University.

Joyce married the love of her life, Glen F. Nielsen, and raised two sons. The family moved around from California to Germany, back to California, to Florida, then finally to Texas. Joyce was always very involved in the community wherever she lived and in the schools her sons attended, made many lifelong friends. She was especially proud of the time she served as a volunteer for Round Rock St. David's Hospital.

Joyce's passions were her family and friends. She loved animals, the ocean, the mountains and Native Americans. She was a lifelong bridge player and in her later years picked up Mahjongg.
