Born on June 16, 1908 to Benjamin Bedford Aldridge and Mary Etta Fleetwood Aldridge in Creek Co, Oklahoma. Frank was the fifth child following David, Agnes, Lucy, and Jarrett. Agnes died at the age of 2 before Frank was born. Eva Christine followed Frank.

At the age of 2 the family moved to a rented farm in Natura, Oklahoma. Frank grew up working on the farm. In 1927 he married Juanita "Babe" Mendenhall. They had four children starting with Kathryn in 1931, Joan in 1932, Neva in 1935 and finally Frank Jr in April of 1937.

To support his young family Frank worked as a share cropper. After celebrating Neva's 4th of July birthday he borrowed $20 from his father for traveling expenses. He was going to travel with a group of share croppers to work in other counties.

On July 18, 1937 he and some of the farmers he was traveling with went to a carnival in Bixby. After they left the carnival their truck stalled on the highway. A fight ensued between Frank and his cousin Rollie Fleetwood. Frank died of a broken neck on the side of the road.

When his father claimed his body Frank had $29 in his pocket. Ben kept the $20 that Frank had borrowed and gave the remaining $9 to Babe.

Rollie Fleetwood was charged with murder but was convicted of manslaughter.

Frank's oldest daughter, Kathryn, was my mother. She was 6 when he died so she had very vague memories of him. Looking at his pictures I can see my mom's smile, my brother's eyes and my son's eyes, nose and ears. And I can see myself in his pictures.

I would like to thank contributor OkieBran for creating my grandpa's memorial. It is because of her contribution to this site I discovered Find-A-Grave.
